Where Shovel Meets Dirt

These are the projects that we are employing to achieve our Mission. Some are big, and some are small. But they’re all important, and they’re all part of making Citronelle a better place to live, work, and visit.

William Bartram Plaza

Status: In Progress

A Downtown Public Space

Named for the famous naturalist, botanist, and explorer who visited the area in the 18th century, we have rescued the property from complete demolition and begun work to transform it from blighted to delighted. William Bartram Plaza will serve as a welcoming gathering space for residents and visitors in Downtown Citronelle.

Check out our progress, and read more about William Bartram and his connection to Citronelle.

Five Elements of Citronelle Mural

Status: In Progress

An Empty Wall Is a Canvas

Work has begun on the south wall of the old liquor store at the north end of Main Street to install a mural to include elements of Sun, Water, Pine, Oak, and Family.

Historic Railway Turntable and Scenic Overlook

Status: Proposed

Past Meets Future

The City of Citronelle has recently uncovered our historic railway turntable and water tower base from the days of steam power. So far, we have participated in pressure washing these beautiful piers.

We envision this being the trailhead of a soft surface recreation trail to the North of town along the grade. In the shorter term, we are excited about the possibility of a scenic overlook at this location and finding out more about its history.

Alley Security

Status: Completed

Security is Important!

We have recently completed our first capital improvement project, which was additional security for the alley running behind the businesses. We added this gate as well as cameras.
