The Downtown Citronelle Revitalization Corporation (DCRC) is proud to support the City of Citronelle’s submission to the Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act (GOMESA) program for the development of the Little Creek Nature Preserve.
This transformative project represents a significant opportunity to expand public access to nature, enhance ecological stewardship, and create a lasting recreational asset for residents and visitors alike. The proposed preserve highlights the unique environmental character of the Little Creek corridor while emphasizing conservation, outdoor education, and passive recreation.
DCRC worked in close collaboration with the VET5 Foundation to develop a comprehensive, submission-ready package for the City. This effort included extensive planning, concept development, documentation, and refinement to align with GOMESA funding priorities and requirements. The partnership reflects a shared commitment to thoughtful, community-centered design and long-term environmental sustainability.
The resulting package outlines a vision for the preserve that balances natural preservation with accessible amenities, creating a space where people of all ages can experience and appreciate the ecological richness of the area. Key elements include trails, gathering spaces, and opportunities for environmental interpretation, all designed to respect and enhance the natural setting.
DCRC is grateful for the opportunity to support the City in advancing this important initiative and to collaborate with VET5 Foundation on a project that will contribute to Citronelle’s environmental, social, and economic vitality for years to come.
